For Nigerian artist Ruhdee, music isn’t something he visits; it’s something he moves with.
That’s the energy behind ‘My Spotify’, a creator-led series exploring how artists and listeners experience music in its most honest, everyday form.
Ruhdee’s listening world is built around intensity and familiarity. When it’s time to lock in, he turns to street anthems: the sounds that match the pace of his environment and mindset. He described his relationship with Spotify as constant, “I use the platform as both a background and an anchor throughout my day”, Ruhdee expressed.
Discovery also plays a key role in his journey. Through Spotify, he recently came across UK artist Kidwild, whose sound has since become a permanent fixture in his rotation—yet another example of how borders blur in today’s listening habits.
His musical foundation is equally clear. Growing up listening to Olamide, Ruhdee credits the legend with shaping both his identity and his approach to music, grounding his creative direction in a distinctly Nigerian sound.
That influence carries directly into his own work. In moments of reflection or challenge, he often returns to his track Amen, while collaborations like Same Life featuring Otega reflect what he calls his most authentic expression.
Through Ruhdee’s ‘My Spotify’, listening becomes less about structure and more about motion: a continuous flow between influence, identity, and lived experience, where music is always present, and always moving.
